Francesca Sproccati is back at FIT with a new piece of work that evolves her research towards questions that touch on contemporary issues, becoming political. Where does the energy of every poetic act and every revolution remain? In a nostalgia that turns into action? Can this nostalgia become a common body-space? Or is it an energy that dies in the ephemeral act of its own becoming?
«Venir meno – explains the artist – is intended to be a dreamlike encounter between two mythological figures. One comes from my personal history: my great-grandfather Battista, a partisan. In my imagination, he is a hero who liberated Italy from the fascists and who, for me, embodies that energy of struggle and resistance against the injustices of the world. The other comes from Greek mythology: Hypnos, the god of Sleep, who today could free us from work, competition, and the exhaustion that performance society forces upon us. What kind of forces do these two figures embody? What does the word Resistance mean to me and to us today? ». A sound performance with live electronic music, textual inserts, and distorted songs, in an immersive environment that will see her on stage alongside performer, musician, and composer Léo Collin.
Francesca Sproccati is one of three Swiss artists chosen this year by Extra Time Plus, a project that brings together far° Nyon, Südpol Luzern, LAC Lugano, and FIT Festival.
