NOTES ON KFWR!
The Keep FIT with Radio project for young people is part of the FIT Festival Internazionale di Teatro e della scena contemporanea which has been held annually in Lugano for 32 years.
The FIT has become an international theater event of neuralgic importance in a Ticino that has been able to open a window of observation towards the contemporary scene. Now in its 32st edition, it continues its focus on the inclusion and awareness of young audiences toward the arts scene by means of the radio.
Keep FIT with Radio, the radio activity associated with the FIT Festival, is a daily critical voice in which to collect testimonies, offer the public a fresh look at the festival, and broaden the participation of the younger generation in contemporary culture.
A group of young people, ages 16 to 22, will make up the Youth Jury and will be on air on Radio Gwendalyn every day of the festival with a mini pop-up radio studio set up at the FIT headquarters. Present in the field and live on DAB+ and the web, the Youth Jury will view the performances to conduct critical panel discussions where they will discuss the themes and content of the festival and select the winner of the “Young & Kids” competition section.
Thanks to the new collaboration with the CSR online cultural magazine CULT+, the youngsters will also have the opportunity to deal with audiovisual language.
The project aims to bring young residents of Ticino closer to contemporary theatre through dialogue and live discussion, two characteristics that radio and theatre have in common. The goal is to train young people to develop a critical eye toward shows that goes beyond “like it or dislike it.” The shows will be analyzed in their dramaturgical aspects, the messages conveyed, form and impressions that emerge, with a focus on interviews with artists and audiences.
2023 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Every year, with Keep FIT with Radio! a group of “budding journalists” will be present every day of the festival with a temporary mini pop-up radio station.
By participating in person and going live on DAB+ and on the web, they will review the performances and run round-table discussions about the festival’s contents.
The project has the mission of bringing the young closer to contemporary theatre through dialogue and live confrontation, two aspects that radio and theatre have in common.

WHERE, WHEN?
* From 29th September to 8 th October in Lugano (times to be defined, attendance required for a few hours over the 10 days of the festival).
* A training weekend Saturday 23th September (time h 10.00-17.00)
and Sunday 24th September (time h 10.00-17.00)

* Go on air every day of the festival with a mini RADIO GWENDALYN pop-up radio studio from our Festival Centre.

* An intergenerational tandem is created with a group of seniors
This year, to broaden the 360 ° vision, Keep FIT with Radio joins the new Restez FIT project! dedicated to the cultural participation of the elderly.
The “Youth Jury” will work in tandem with the “Jury of Wise Men”, a group of seniors with whom young people will see, discuss and evaluate the FIT shows together, in an exchange of opinions, sensations and emotions. The goal is to give new stimuli to the elderly, to enhance their vision and perception, to arouse their curiosity, to ensure that they can participate “in first person” and to create, together with young people, a bridge with external.

THE RADIO IS MADE IN 2!!!
To broaden our vision, Keep FIT with Radio joins Restez FIT! the new project to strengthen the cultural participation of senior citizens.
The “Youth Jury” will work in tandem with the “Sages Jury,” a group of elderly people with whom young people will view, discuss and evaluate FIT shows together, in an exchange of opinions, feelings and emotions.
The goal is to give new stimuli to the elders, to enhance their vision and perception, to arouse their curiosity, to get them to participate “in the first person,” and to create, together with the young people, a link with the outside world.
