LEONARDO LIDI

ACTOR & THEATRE DIRECTOR

Graduated in 2012 as an actor at the School of Teatro Stabile di Torino, Leondardo Lidi debuted in Plato’s Symposium directed by Andrea De Rosa in the role of Socrates and was then chosen by Valter Malosti to play Hamlet. Subsequently, the Teatro Stabile di Torino entrusted him with the direction of the annual show for schools Peter Pan by James Matthew Barrie. In 2016 he was chosen by Antonio Latella to play Agamemnon in the show/marathon Santa Estasi.
As an actor Lidi had the opportunity to work for Levan Tzuladze and Kostantin Bogomolov on international tours.
He returned as a director to the Teatro Stabile di Torino with Qualcuno che tace, a trilogy dedicated to Natalia Ginzburg with the staging of Dialogo, La Segretaria and Ti ho sposato per allegria.

In the summer of 2018, Spettri by Henrik Ibsen directed by Leonardo Lidi opens at the 46th International Theatre Festival of the Biennale di Venezia, as the winning play of the call for directors under 30. He then directed actor Francesco Mandelli in the monologue Proprietà e atto (Title and Deed) by Will Eno. In 2019 he directed Lo zoo di vetro (The Glass Menagerie) by Tennessee Williams co-produced by LAC Lugano, Teatro Carcano in Milan and Fondazione TPE. In 2020 he directed his first opera Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi, with Luca Salsi in the title role.

In summer 2020 he directed two shows for the Biennale di Venezia: ll lampadario by Caroline Baglioni and La città morta by Gabriele D’Annunzio produced by TSU Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria and Corte Ospitale.
As a director his work opened as well the 2020/2021 season of Teatro Carignano/Teatro Stabile di Torino with La casa di Bernarda Alba by Federico Garcia Lorca.

For his work as director and playwright he was awarded the Premio della Critica ANCT 2020 (ANCT Critics’ Prize 2020).

In June 2021 the national première of La signorina Julie (Miss Julie) by August Strindberg took place at Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, produced by TSU Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria.
