CURIOUS INDUSTRIES (FR)

I grew up on milk and Heidi – says Alessandra Celesia – the most popular cartoon of my generation. I grew up in the mountains, wandering through forests in the summer, on the trail of chamois in the winter. In Valle d’Aosta. I grew up on a land that gave me deep roots. Then I tore them off, stretched them, made them elastic, according to different possible interpretations. Like Heidi, I went to the city. Not to Frankfurt but to Paris. I met pale, complicated citizens. I lost the sun of the peaks. I live on the eighth floor but it is not enough. The sap has a life span all its own and runs out without warning. Like Heidi in the city, I have known “melancholy”, Heidi in Frankfurt is melancholic, she becomes sleepwalking, she wastes away, she pales to the point that the family doctor decrees: “there is no medicine that can save her, the only possible remedy is to send her back to her mountains!”. So I decided to go back, to make the reverse journey towards the untouched snow of my childhood, the powdery snow, just lying on the meadows, the snow that breathes and shines in the sun. I came back to understand. How do we keep our inner snow intact throughout our lives? How do we avoid making it dirty by confronting existence? On stage, we tell each other, confess, confront each other, in this “scrap book” of the intimate that is written with pieces of songs, films stolen with the cell phone, super8 of childhood, recorded conversations and extracts from the text of Johanna Spyri that are in perfect resonance with our lives.
