I, MALVOLIO

TIM CROUCH (UK)

I, Malvolio tells the story of Twelfth Night through the eyes of Shakespeare’s most repressed and frustrated assistant. It is an indictment, a hilarious and often disturbing rant from a man described as “notoriously incompetent.” The play is a one man show and a “tour de force.” In this story, dominated by the loss of dignity, moralism, jokes and abuse of power, Malvolio accompanies his audience, starting from the pleasure one feels in the presence of the suffering of others, making his own the madness of Shakespeare’s text. Definitely the most talented English playwright and performer, whose works have been staged all over the world and winner of numerous awards including First Prize Edinburgh Festival, Prix Italia 2005 as best radio adaptation, Critics’ Prize awarded by Time Out magazine, London and New York.
