KASSANDRA
SEGIO BLANCO (UY/FR)
A heroine from Troy travels in the modern world. A dialogue between the past of classical Greece and the marginality of today.
La Blanco, a Uruguayan transvestite who sells contraband, tells her story and at the same time the story of the city of Troy. The pressing rhythm unfolds on two levels: on the one hand, contemporary tragedy and, on the other, the myth of Cassandra, the priestess with the power of foresight. In a language that is not her own, the author writes a powerful monologue in which the well-known Trojan heroine, in the precarious English of a contemporary emigrant, tells her story and demystifies her own myth.
