This open call aims to support artists working in war zones under hard and dangerous living conditions. The goal of this open call is to give video artists and filmmakers the possibility to continue to create and to share works with an international audience.
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
KHIN THETHTAR LATT Myanmar
Khin Thethtar Latt is a filmmaker and performance artist from Myanmar. Her work explores her personal expression and her attempt to criticize political situations. She is a storyteller, analyzing and reflecting on her own roots and voice, through the medium of visual language.
AMEEN ABO KASEEM Syria
Ameen abo Kaseem is a documentary photographer, D.O.P., editor, Palestinian Syrian living in Damascus, Syria. He focusses in his work on personal documentary projects, family, friends, community, streets, and toxic lifestyles and methods of survival. @ameenakaseem
VASYL LYAH Ukraine
Vasyl Lyah is a multidisciplinary artist from Mariupol, Ukraine. He is engaged in painting, graphics, photography, cinema, and music, and works with the topics of memory and identity. Vasyl is a member of Freefilmers.
USAMA BENYAALA Libya
Usama Benyaala is a filmmaker from Tripoli, Libya. He has been working as an editor, video producer, director, and cinematographer since 2012. In 2021 he started his own company “Lowlyte” focusing on creating independent films to push the limits of storytelling in local cinema. FB – Usama Benyaala
OLENA SIYATOVSKA Ukraine
Olena Siyatovska is a visual artist from Ukraine working with new media, performance, video, and installations. In her works she focuses on social relations, human rights, and identity in the digital dimension.
MOE MYAT MAY ZARCHI Myanmar
Moe Myat May Zarchi is a filmmaker, musician and a multidisciplinary artist from Myanmar. In her works, she explores the metaphysical, identity, femininity and personal aspects in storytelling through innovative use of visuals and sound. She is a founder of “3-ACT” and co-founder of “MATTER audiovisual lab”. @moemyatmz @3.act
SIMON MOZGOVYI & TABOR LTD (ALINA GORLOVA, MAKSYM NAKONECHNYI, and YELIZAVETA SMITH) Ukraine
Simon Mozgoviy is a filmmaker, screenwriter, film editor, producer, and actor from Ukraine.
Tabor Ltd, presented by Alina Gorlova, Maksym Nakonechnyi, and Yelizaveta Smith, is an independent production company, founded by a group of Ukrainian filmmakers and artists. They create feature films, documentaries, theatrical performances, commercials, and social ads.
