Collettivo Treppenwitz is an artistic collective founded in 2018 by six independent artists – Camilla Parini, Simon Waldvogel, Anahì Traversi, Carla Valente, Igor Horvat, and Federica Carra – coming from diverse backgrounds such as theatre, dance, performance, music, photography, and stage writing. After several collaborations over the years, Francesca Sproccati joined the team in 2026.
The collective is known for its multidisciplinary and contemporary approach, with artistic research focused on relationships, attentive listening, and the urgency to narrate the present through innovative and hybrid languages.
Over the years, it has received important recognition and has taken part in national and international collaborations and tours, establishing itself as one of the most vibrant emerging groups in the Swiss and European performance scene.
The name Treppenwitz – a German word meaning “staircase wit”, the clever remark that comes too late – reflects the collective’s poetic sensibility, transforming delays, missed intuitions, and fragility into creative strength and expressive drive.
FRANCESCA SPROCCATI
Francesca Sproccati is an artist active in the field of contemporary dance and performing arts and is based in Lugano (Switzerland). Since 2017 she has been developing her personal artistic research.
In 2018 she premiered with the 3 hour long immersive performance EXP: je voudrais commencer par sauter at the FIT Festival Internazionale del Teatro e della Scena Contemporanea – LAC Lugano. She has presented her second pièce Out of Me, Inside You (PREMIO Schweiz 2020 semifinalist, at FIT in 2021). Since 2018 she started a close artistic collaboration with Elena Boillat who participated in both creative processes.
The centre of her research is focused on the presence of the performative body inside the installative performance approach. She questions the relationship between action and contemplation as a reflection of the one between audience and performers. She is interested in building places for people where their sensorial presence remains alive during the theatrical experience.
Francesca Sproccati is part of TIB – Ticino is Burning, a movement born in 2020 on the initiative of five independent artists from Ticino, thinking about what it meant to exist as artists in a small territory geographically separated from the rest of Switzerland. In TIB received the Swiss Performing Arts Award.
