CAROLINE GILLET

JOURNALIST, DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER and AUTHOR

Caroline Gillet, born in Brussels, is a journalist and author who has been producing documentary series for France Inter for over fifteen years, exploring themes of identity, conflict, and contemporary youth through the voices of her subjects. She won the prestigious Prix Italia for Inside Kaboul, a podcast based on intimate testimonies from Afghan citizens during the Taliban takeover, which she later adapted into an animated series co-produced by France Télévisions and the BBC.

Throughout her career, she has told stories from Ukraine inĀ Notes vocales d’UkraineĀ and explored the subversive visions of Europe’s younger generations in the seriesĀ Foule Continentale. She is the co-creator ofĀ Radio Live, an innovative live documentary format combining stage, radio, and video, presented in numerous theaters and international festivals.

She has written for Actes Sud, directed a documentary film for France 3, and collaborates with various cultural institutions across Europe. Alongside her fieldwork, she teaches at the UniversitƩ de Louvain, where she shares her expertise in storytelling and nonfiction narrative. Her work is marked by an intimate, human-centered approach that creates space for dialogue between often disconnected worlds.

In 2025, she directed One’s Own Room Inside Kabul together with Kubra Khademi; the installation was first presented in Avignon in July and is landing at FIT on October 11th.
