Tabea Martin is a choreographer and performer based in Basel, Switzerland. She studied Modern Dance at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam (2002). She danced with Piet Rogie & Company in Holland, with Fabian Chyle in Stuttgart and Nick Bryson in Ireland. She has been guest student at SNDO in Amsterdam and finished studying choreography at Rotterdamse Dansacademie in 2006.<\/p>\n
Her productions A cot\u00e9 de l\u2019ombre<\/em> (2004), Sculpterre<\/em> (2005), Promenade dans l\u2019eau<\/em> (2005) and Impair<\/em> (2005) have been touring in Holland and Switzerland. 2006 her production \u00dcber freundliche und ausgeglichene Menschen<\/em> was the opener for Tanztage Basel\u00a0at Roxy theatre. In 2007 she was invited to a symposium with Forced Entertainment at\u00a0PACT Zollverein Essen. Also she created choreographies for junges theater basel (S chunnt scho guet<\/em> for Theatergroep De Maan was invited to Oerol festival 2007).<\/p>\n 2008 she was invited to Choreoroam Project, an initiative for young choreographers in Great Britain, Italy and Switzerland. 2009 she collaborated with english filmmaker Lucy Cash at B-Motion Festival in Italy and with director Merel de Groot at Grand Theatre Groningen.<\/p>\n In Holland her work has been supported by Dansateliers Rotterdam and Het LAB Utrecht. 2011 Tabea has won the Wim Barry Prize in Holland and was nominated by the Dutch Dance Days for promising young choreographers.<\/p>\n Duet for two dancers<\/em> (2010) was selected by Aerowaves in 2013 and was awarded by Reconnaissance, \u00c9chirolles 2013. Field<\/em> (2014) has been selected by Aerowaves\u00a0to Priority Group. Both production have been touring since.<\/p>\n Tabea Martin regularly collaborates with municipal and state theatres. At Schauspielhaus Zurich, Gorki Theater Berlin, Staatstheater Oldenburg and Theater Neumarkt she worked together with Sebastian N\u00fcbling, Elina Finkel and Sibylle Berg. 2015 she has won the special prize from Berner Tanzpreise<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Her production Pink for Girls & Blue for Boys<\/em> premiered at Tanzhaus Z\u00fcrich in January 2016 and is currently touring in Europe. Her production Beyond Indifference<\/em> premiered in December 2016 at Kaserne Basel. In May 2017 she realized the mediation project Home \u2013 Tanzakademie Basel<\/em> in collaboration with Kaserne Basel and Tanzfest Basel. In September 2017 she did the choreography for Nach uns das All<\/em> (text: Sibylle Berg) with Sebastian N\u00fcbling at Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin. On February 1st 2018 her duet This is my last dance<\/em> (at FIT in 2018) together with Italian dancer Simona Bertozzi premiered at Kaserne Basel.<\/p>\n At Konzert Theater Bern she co-directed and choreographed Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen<\/em> under the direction of Stephan M\u00e4rki in April 2018. In Mai 2018 she was be the choreographer of Betrunkene<\/em>, direction Elina Finkel at Stadt Theater Konstanz.<\/p>\n Tabea Martin received the Culture Award 2016<\/strong> from Kanton Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland. From 2016-2018 she was Young Associated Artist of the mentoring-programm of Pro Helvetia-Swiss Arts Council.
