Born in Ivory Coast, Nadia Beugr\u00e9 began her career in 1995 with the Dante Theatre and later co-founded the groundbreaking all-female dance troupe Tch\u00e9Tch\u00e9, touring internationally to critical acclaim. For Beugr\u00e9, the stage became a “tatami”\u2014a space of confrontation and transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After training at Germaine Acogny\u2019s \u00c9cole des Sables, she joined Mathilde Monnier\u2019s Ex.e.r.ce program in 2009 at the Centre Chor\u00e9graphique National de Montpellier. In 2012, she premiered<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Quartiers Libres<\/span><\/em>, a solo that continues to tour.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A pivotal collaboration with Alain Buffard deepened her exploration of the body, gender, and vulnerability. Blending traditional Ivorian dance with contemporary and urban influences, Beugr\u00e9\u2019s raw, visceral style led<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to describe her as \u201cwild, like the wind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Her major works include<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Legacy<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(2015),<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Tapis Rouge<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(2017),<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Roukasskass Club<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(2019), and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>L\u2019Homme rare<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(2020), presented at leading festivals in Paris, Brussels, Montreal, and beyond. In 2020, she also choreographed<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Atem<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>at Darmstadt\u2019s Staatstheater, returning with<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Entre deux<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Beugr\u00e9 collaborates widely, performing in works by Seydou Boro, Alain Buffard, Robyn Orlin, and others. Since 2021, she has been an associate artist at La Briqueterie (Vitry-sur-Seine) and ICI CCN Montpellier (2023\u20132024). She co-founded the Montpellier-based company Libr\u2019Arts with Virginie Dupray, bridging France and Ivory Coast through dance.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2023, she received the SACD Price for Choreography<\/strong> for New Choreographic Talent.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
