The artistic practice of Marco Berrettini ranges from performances for museums to collaborations with filmmakers, installations with visual artists at dinners with famous people who do not know him\u2026 A daring artist not subject to norms and conventions, a champion of a non-elitist \u201cdance for all\u201d, he follows Nietzsche’s dictum: \u00abyou have to dance through life\u00bb.<\/p>\n
Berrettini was born in 1963 in Aschaffenburg, Germany. His interest in dance first emerged in discotheques. In 1978, he won the German Disco Dance Championship. He then attended classes of jazz, modern and classical ballet. At the age of 17, he began his professional training as a dancer; first at the London School of Contemporary Dance, then graduating at the Folkwangschulen Essen, under the direction of Hans Z\u00fcllig and Pina Bausch. There, he developed his interest in the Tanztheater and started to work as a choreographer. As a result of his training, in 1986 he sets up his own dance company Tanzplantation, renamed *Melk Prod. <\/strong>in 2000. While working as a choreographer, he studied for two years European Ethnology, Cultural Anthropology and Theatrical Sciences at the University of Frankfurt. In 1988, he moved to France to work with choreographer Georges Appaix and created his own pieces in parallel. In 1999 the Kampnagel Hamburg produced his performance MULTI(S)ME<\/em>.<\/p>\n Since then, Marco Berrettini has produced about 30 shows with his company *Melk Prod.<\/strong> With Sturmwetter pr\u00e9pare l\u2019An d\u2019Emil<\/em>, he won the ZKB Prize<\/strong> at the Theaterspektakel Z\u00fcrich.
